About Kroongrond

My name is Hanlie van Staden, founder and maker behind Kroongrond. What began during the Covid pandemic, encouraged by my children, grew from a simple idea into a deeply personal creative journey. Kroongrond is a one-woman endeavour where every item is designed, crafted, stitched, and carved by my own hands.

The name Kroongrond carries a story of heritage and place. Embracing our roots in Queen Victoria’s crown lands, Kroongrond is more than just a name — it reflects a legacy that inspires the spirit of the brand. The vast Kalahari landscape also serves as a powerful source of inspiration, shaping the colours, textures, and forms found in each creation. Its resilience and beauty encourage me to create with purpose, determination, and respect for the natural world. Guided by a commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing, Kroongrond celebrates individuality through colourful, distinctive creations that honour both heritage and craftsmanship.

At Kroongrond, I manufacture hand-stitched leather goods and carve animal skulls into distinctive decor items, every piece tells a story — a story of heritage, creativity, and the enduring spirit of handmade artistry. It is made for those who appreciate authenticity, craftsmanship, and the beauty of something created slowly and with care.
